The Top 24 photos selected for the 2027 calendar will also be showcased at the 3rd Annual Distinctly Downriver: A Photo Exhibit on Thursday evening, November 12, 2026.
What Makes a Great Entry?
We are looking for photos that are Distinctly Downriver — images that someone familiar with the area would immediately recognize as part of the Downriver community or nearby Wayne and Monroe County areas.
Photos May Include:
- Local landmarks and iconic destinations
- Cityscapes, structures, and historic buildings
- Landscapes and nature scenes
- Seasonal scenes from winter, spring, summer, or fall
- City welcome signs
- Unique places, events, and hidden gems throughout the region
Helpful Tip
We receive many riverfront photos each year, as well as photos of Heritage Park, Bishop Park, and Elizabeth Park. To improve your chances of being selected, consider capturing other unique locations throughout the Wayne and Monroe County communities.

2026 Seasonal Contest Dates
- Winter: December 21, 2025 – March 19, 2026
- Spring: March 20, 2026 – June 20, 2026
- Summer: June 21, 2026 – September 21, 2026
- Fall: September 22, 2026 – December 20, 2026
2026 Annual Calendar Contest Is Closed
The deadline for consideration in the 2027 Downriver Community Calendar was October 11, 2026. You can still submit photos for the seasonal contest. Entries received after the deadline will automatically be considered for the next Annual Calendar Contest.
Photo Submission Requirements
- Photos must be submitted digitally using the online submission form.
- Minimum image size: 1200 × 933 pixels.
- High-resolution images are strongly recommended.
- Photographers may submit up to four photos per year.
- We recommend submitting one photo per season.
- Photos should feature locations within the Downriver community or throughout the Wayne and Monroe County areas.
- Photos should not contain recognizable individuals.
